Job Description
About District Partners's Client
District Partners has been engaged by a large, private equity–backed enterprise operating at a national scale across manufacturing, distribution, and logistics. The organization is formalizing its enterprise AI and automation framework as part of a broader technology modernization effort. Technology decisions directly impact margin, operational resilience, service levels, and growth execution. The executive leadership team is investing in modernizing legacy platforms, strengthening cybersecurity, and accelerating AI-enabled innovation in support of long-term value creation.
This is an opportunity to step into an early-stage but active enterprise AI program and help shape how AI is governed, prioritized, and executed across the business.
The AI Project Manager will lead coordination, governance, and stakeholder alignment for the company’s enterprise AI and automation initiatives. This is not a traditional status-reporting PM role. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience leading AI and automation programs and can contribute real-world perspective to executive conversations around governance, data readiness, security, vendor/tool evaluation, and change management. The engagement will begin at approximately 20–30 hours per week and may scale as the AI program expands. There is potential for long-term conversion.
What You'll Do as an AI Project Manager
- Lead and facilitate enterprise AI roundtables with technology and cross-functional leaders
- Drive structured AI workshops with executive stakeholders to prioritize and align on use cases
- Manage the AI program operating rhythm, including action tracking, risk management, and executive reporting
- Partner with security, data, and engineering leaders to ensure AI initiatives address governance, compliance, and data quality considerations

- Support AI tool evaluation and prioritization efforts
- Provide structured updates for executive leadership and board-level visibility
- Assist in change management, adoption planning, and internal communication efforts
- Provide limited support around enterprise AI tool rollout coordination
What You'll Have
- 10+ years of enterprise project or program management experience
- Demonstrated experience leading AI, automation, RPA, or intelligent process initiatives
- Experience operating in early-stage AI governance or AI adoption environments
- Strong executive facilitation skills and ability to challenge constructively
- Experience working cross-functionally with security, infrastructure, data, and engineering teams
- Familiarity with Agile delivery environments
- PMP preferred but not required if experience is strong
