About The Content Strategist Role
The Content Strategist is a crucial, client-facing position responsible for daily client deliverables, developing and managing custom client strategies, and ensuring effective communication with both clients and internal stakeholders. This role primarily handles Enterprise clients and requires a deep understanding of the service line's impact across various business areas to formulate a holistic marketing strategy.
What You'll Do
- Strategic Excellence and Best Practices: Create custom strategies and implement best practices to achieve Non-Sales Metrics (NSMs). This includes leveraging project phases, client marketing goals, ongoing campaigns, and historical performance to optimize strategies over the client's lifetime, adhering to Directive's best practices. You'll collaborate with your Associate Director (AsD) on roadblocks and demonstrate a strong ability to craft creative briefs and compelling content campaigns informed by competitor and audience insights. Key practices include LTV:CAC modeling, Customer Generation, Share of SERP, and Content Production.
- Goal Setting: Use available data from Google Analytics, CRM, SEMRush, and Ahrefs to set client engagement goals, which must be reviewed and approved by your Associate Director before presentation.
- Project Management: Ensure the execution of planned strategies using Asana to delegate tasks to team members (e.g., Specialists) and clients, ensuring timely completion. Partner with Project Managers, where present, to manage tasks, assignments, and due dates. Work closely with content writers and designers to deliver high-quality content campaigns on schedule.
- Internal and External Communication: Serve as the primary interface between clients and the team, building strong relationships that extend beyond deliverables. Proactively communicate timeline expectations, goal attainment progress, and use shared channels like Slack for regular updates. Internally, communicate roadblocks, growth opportunities, and account changes (e.g., strategy shifts, client marketing changes, point of contact updates) to leadership.
- Reporting: Regularly report on strategy progress and impact through bi-weekly client meetings (focusing on NSM progress and deliverables), monthly reports, quarterly reports, and bi-annual business review presentations.
What You'll Bring
- A proven track record in implementing SEO principles and content strategy, including keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building.
- Strong analytical insight, with the ability to analyze website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable with client-facing interactions and owning stakeholder relationships.
- Strong familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog/crawling tools.
- Proven organizational, project, and time management skills.
- Genuine enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO, and Content.
- Must have agency experience.
- Must have B2B tech and/or SaaS experience.
Goals
- NSM Attainment: 100%
- MRR Retainment: 96%
- CSAT > 4.2
- Upsells / Cross-sells / Referrals: Consistently identify opportunities for clients to expand their business with Directive, such as adding new service lines (SEO, Paid Media), increasing existing service line budgets, and requesting referrals at key moments (e.g., new job for a point of contact, 5 CSAT score).
What We Offer
- Competitive living wage.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, vision plans, disability, and life insurance for you and your family, including a 100% employer-paid plan for you and 50% for dependents.
- Benefits supporting holistic well-being: access to certified therapists through Spring Health, Headspace membership, and Gympass.
- Generous time off: Unlimited PTO (2-week minimum), Paid Company Holidays, Your Birthday Off, End of Year Recharge (Closed December 24 - January 1), and Paid Parental Leave.
- Financial security: Traditional and Roth 401(k) with a 3% company match.
- Annual bonus based on tenure, scaling over time.
