Job Summary
The Pharmacist Intern is responsible for technical, clerical and transportation duties in the pharmacy department. This role involves preparation, distribution, and delivery of medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The intern is also expected to demonstrate competency in patient care across all age groups including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in medication prescribing, preparation, dispensing, administering and monitoring.
- Perform clerical and technical duties including inventory control and supplies ordering.
- Maintain confidentiality and act courteously with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Support patient education and train others in pharmacy practices.
Job Requirements
- Current registration as a pharmacy intern with the California State Board of Pharmacy.
- Fire Safety card within 90 days of hire.
- Knowledge of pharmacy laws, pharmaceutical calculations, safe handling practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse team.
