Position Overview
DigiKey is one of the fastest growing distributors of electronic components worldwide. As a Privacy Engineer Intern, you will participate in various aspects of the IT Security department. You will work alongside team members while working on a capstone project throughout your internship.
This position supports general IT initiatives and assists in implementing and maintaining privacy-enhancing technologies and processes including data mapping, privacy impact assessments, and the automation of privacy request workflows using tools such as OneTrust. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with global privacy regulations and embed privacy-by-design principles into engineering practices.
Housing and Work Arrangement
Local campus housing (private room, private bath, and shared living space) is provided for interns selecting Thief River Falls as their internship home base. Note: Housing is not provided for Bloomington-based internships. This is an onsite role requiring attendance five days a week.
Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day tasks and projects in the assigned department.
- Support team duties and participate in meetings and brainstorming sessions.
- Collaborate on projects, conduct research, and maintain organized records.
- Work on a capstone project to gain practical industry experience.
- Improve business skills including communication, project management, and data analysis.
Required Skills and Tools
Current student or recent graduate with relevant education. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and average to above-average computer skills. A positive, collaborative approach and initiative to work both independently and within a team are essential. Proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite including Teams and Outlook is expected.
Physical Requirements
Primarily work at a computer workstation involving repetitive motions (keyboard, mouse, screen) through the day.
Compensation
Compensation is based on education level and relevant experience. Hourly rates vary: Undergraduates receive between $21.00 and $23.00, while graduate candidates receive between $26.00 (Masters) and $29.00 (PhD).
