This is an immediate, full-time, permanent position located in the APAC region, specifically in Sydney or Melbourne, Australia.

Job Purpose

The Sourcing Manager will implement best-in-class local and sub-regional category strategies, with a primary focus on transport sourcing. This involves identifying leading suppliers, expertly leading negotiations for transport-related contracts, and ensuring strict compliance with all DHL policies.

Your tasks

• Develop and execute sub-regional transport sourcing strategies aligned with broader procurement objectives and business priorities.
• Manage multi-modal transport sourcing (road, rail, intermodal), emphasizing cost optimisation, sustainability, and resilience.
• Drive strategic supplier relationship management for key transport partners to foster innovation, ensure ESG compliance, and generate long-term value.
• Conduct comprehensive market intelligence and benchmarking to identify emerging trends, potential risks, and new opportunities within transport categories.
• Ensure robust risk mitigation and capacity planning for critical transport lanes, supporting contingency strategies to enhance supply chain resilience.
• Collaborate closely with global and regional category leads to leverage scale, standardize sourcing practices, and achieve synergies across various regions.
• Support network design and strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing service quality, operational efficiency, and sustainability goals.
• Lead strategic negotiations and contract structuring for high-value transport agreements, ensuring full compliance and effective governance.
• Champion continuous improvement and innovation through digital enablement, process optimisation, and the adoption of novel transport solutions.
• Align all sourcing activities with overall business strategy, ensuring a measurable value contribution and high stakeholder satisfaction.

Your profile

• Proven experience in contract management, procurement, or supply chain roles, with a distinct preference for experience within the transport sector.
• Demonstrated strong negotiation skills and extensive experience in managing vendor relationships effectively.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in relevant software tools and advanced contract management systems.

Education Level

A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a closely related field is required. An additional qualification such as an MBA is considered a significant advantage.

Experience Level

More than 3 years of experience in a similar Transportation sourcing role, or more than 5 years of experience within a broader supply chain operations role.
