We primarily seek industry professionals to teach and share their profound knowledge and practical experience with undergraduate and graduate students across various fields.
Our courses typically meet once or twice weekly for eight-week sessions. The learning environment blends face-to-face interaction with technology-driven components, such as online discussions and assignments, to enhance student engagement. Faculty are responsible for facilitating student learning by delivering courses and programs in accordance with DeVry University's established requirements. This includes developing course syllabi, creating comprehensive lesson plans, and applying effective teaching techniques to achieve course and programmatic objectives optimally. All DeVry instructors will participate in a thorough faculty training program and ongoing professional development to ensure the highest quality of instruction. Please note that DeVry University does not guarantee a specific number of work hours or assignments; these may vary based on the University's evolving needs and discretion. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and provide students with an approved DeVry University syllabus, meticulously following the template established by the local campus, including all terminal course objectives.
- Organize, meticulously prepare, and regularly revise and update all course materials to maintain relevance and quality.
- Utilize appropriate technological solutions for online platforms and course-related software, such as Websites, e-mail, and online discussion forums, to prepare the course and ensure accessibility for all students.
- Model exemplary oral and written communication skills that actively engage students, provide clear instruction, and significantly enhance student learning outcomes.
- Set explicit expectations for the course by publishing clear terminal objectives, outlining assignment and examination dates, and transparently detailing the weight distribution of various evaluation categories.
- Ensure that the content and academic level of material included on examinations directly correspond to the established course terminal objectives.
- Demonstrate unwavering consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, providing students with timely and constructive feedback.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the academic mission of the University.
Qualifications
To successfully fulfill the requirements of this role, an individual must be proficient in performing each essential duty. The qualifications listed below represent the necessary knowledge, skill, and ability. - A master's degree is a mandatory requirement for all faculty positions, along with 18 graduate credit hours specifically in the subject area being taught.

- Qualifying credentials must be awarded by an institution accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized agency, the Council for Higher Education Administration, or an international institution deemed to hold equivalent accreditation.
- Industry-related professional certificates are highly preferred, particularly those in data and AI issued by leading providers such as Oracle, AWS, Google, and MS Azure.
- Additional requirements, which may be driven by specific state licensing or accreditation considerations, may also apply.
- Faculty must possess requisite subject matter expertise and demonstrate outstanding communication skills.
- Excellent motivational and instructional skills are essential, particularly within a diverse and non-traditional learning environment.
- The ability to collaborate effectively and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups is a key requirement.
Compensation and Benefits
Visiting Professor pay is determined by the faculty level, the number of credit hours taught per 8-week session, and location. DeVry University does not guarantee any specific number of work hours or assignments, which may fluctuate based on the University’s operational needs and discretion.
For most states, pay typically ranges from $1,500 to $2,700 per 8-week session. In Arizona, California, Indiana, and Pennsylvania, the compensation is an hourly rate of either $22.00 or $23.50 per hour.
