Job Description

Solution Architect, Customer Journey Solutions at Deutsche Bank

The Customer Journey Solutions sub-domain is at the heart of Deutsche Bank's digital transformation. Our mission is to create seamless, efficient, and modern digital experiences for customers across all brands and channels. We achieve this by developing and operating a suite of common platforms and services, including the dbCORE low-code development platform, a centralized product sales and service shop, and bank-wide Ident & Sign solutions. We are responsible for everything from initial customer authentication and digital product sales to process design and integration with third-party providers, ensuring a consistent and superior customer journey.

As a Solution Architect within the Customer Journey Solutions sub-domain, you will be a key technical leader responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of scalable, resilient, and secure solutions across our diverse product areas. You will ensure that our architecture aligns with the bank's strategic goals, supports our growth initiatives, and drives process optimization. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively with product owners, UX designers, and engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into robust technical designs.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Design the technical architecture of IT solutions in line with functional and non-functional requirements on hybrid cloud, GCP, and legacy platforms, following consistent design patterns and best practices. This includes the design of front ends, business logic, REST-services, event streaming, data persistence, and interfaces to other domains.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to development teams, ensuring that implementations adhere to architectural best practices, security standards, and performance goals.
  • As a Solution Architect in TDI Private Bank Germany Banking, you will be responsible for the conception and definition for a significant segment of our Banking IT platforms, understanding its architecture dependencies and providing guidance to the development areas to design, build, test, and deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • You will contribute to the definition of our IT strategy, its implementation, and ensure that the strategic target blueprints are realized and that the solution design is in sync with TDI Private Bank blueprints and principles, as well as with overarching DB architecture and security standards.
  • Work closely with Cloud engineers, Developers, and DevOps engineers to design solutions and serve as a counsel to designers and developers, carrying out reviews of software designs and detailed-level design documentation.

Your Skills And Experience

  • Demonstrated experience as a Solution Architect or in a similar technical leadership role, capable of strategic thinking and proven ability to deliver complex, large-scale software systems.
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful API design principles, and API gateway technologies. Broad understanding of modern frontend technologies (e.g., Angular, React) and backend development (e.g., Java/Spring, Node.js), including solid understanding of modern authentication and authorization protocols (e.g., OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT) and security best practices.
  • Prior hands-on experience with architecting highly available, microservice, scalable, and resilient solutions in cloud-based environments using, for example, Kubernetes/serverless, as well as in re-architecting and designing existing applications for the cloud – ideally Google (GCP) including products like GKE, Cloud Run, and Apigee.
  • Ability to consider additional dimensions (e.g., Cyber-security, OAuth/OIDC, Financials, Risk, Time to Market, Compliance) on top of the architecture drivers, to propose balanced and feasible technical architecture solutions.
  • Very good analytical skills and ability to oversee/structure complex tasks, and experience in defining high-level and low-level technical solution designs for complex initiatives. This includes the ability to balance business demands and IT capabilities in terms of stability, standardization, reducing risk, and increasing IT flexibility.
