UX Researcher at DEPT®

This 2-year Fixed Term Contract role is based in Dublin with a hybrid work arrangement, and is situated within our Experience & Engineering team in Ireland. You will be seconded to one of our key clients in the health services sector. We pride ourselves on combining future-ready technical solutions with beautiful design expertise to craft exceptional and engaging digital experiences that cultivate lasting client relationships.

Job Purpose

The core purpose of the UX Researcher role is to:

  • Deliver UX research projects focused on identifying, evaluating, and designing digital interventions to encourage healthy behaviors.
  • Collaborate effectively with both internal and external partners on complex projects.
  • Apply a diverse range of user research and design methods, understanding when and how to implement them appropriately.
  • Plan and facilitate consultations and engagements with patients, the public, and advocacy groups, ensuring their involvement in the design process.
  • Utilize rapid prototyping methods to support evidence-based design development.
  • Effectively manage research participants to ensure high-quality research engagements.
  • Communicate research findings clearly and concisely, enabling colleagues to make informed decisions.
  • Champion evidence-based design decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct usability testing with diverse user groups to gather comprehensive feedback.
  • Ensure feedback is sourced, analyzed, and actioned appropriately and effectively.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HSE products and services.
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and QA third-party deliverables against established standards and protocols.
  • Advocate for inclusive, accessible, and sustainable design across all products and services.
  • Liaise with developers, content, social teams, and internal clients throughout the design process.
  • Maintain a service-user and client-focused approach, understanding the Health Services’ fundamental role, purpose, structure, and strategic goals.
  • Contribute actively as part of a high-functioning team, managing concurrent projects and competing priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues from the wider Communications Division, other HSE Divisions, and external agency collaborators.

What You'll Bring

Qualifications and/or Experience
  • 5-7 years of experience working in a UX role.
  • Comprehensive understanding and hands-on experience of the entire end-to-end design process, from discovery to delivery.
  • In-depth, practical knowledge of various UX design and research methods.
  • Proven experience delivering in-person and remote moderated tests, as well as user and stakeholder interviews.
  • Experience in developing and executing detailed research plans.
  • Experience planning and facilitating in-person and online engagements, including focus groups and co-design sessions.
  • The ability to develop appropriate user research strategies tailored to specific project needs.
  • A strong ability to articulate and advocate for user research in an understandable way to non-research audiences.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams to integrate research findings.
  • Experience collaborating effectively in a dynamic agile environment.
  • Possess the necessary knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and management capability, for the proper discharge of duties.
