About the Role: Senior M&A Data Analytics Consultant

The Deloitte Strategy & Transactions team guides clients through their most critical moments and transformational initiatives. We provide comprehensive end-to-end support and advisory services, covering areas such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), valuation modeling, cost optimization, restructuring, business design and transformation, infrastructure and real estate, and sustainability. Our team collaborates closely with clients at every stage of their journey, helping them navigate challenges, avoid financial pitfalls, and implement practical solutions before, during, and after major transformational projects or transactions, creating lasting impact.

What You'll Do

As a Senior M&A Data Analytics Consultant, you will be a key member of client deal teams. Your primary responsibilities will include gathering, normalizing, validating, and analyzing transactional data (e.g., sales and inventory data) to develop and test hypotheses for a given deal. You will work within cross-functional teams, contributing your skills to financial, accounting, operational, and tax due diligence by managing and analyzing data. You will leverage your visual analytics expertise to articulate a compelling story of our findings.

Additionally, you will utilize business intelligence tools and your data analytic skillset to provide meaningful insights crucial to clients' deal investment hypotheses. This is a client-facing role, allowing you to directly interact with C-suite and private equity executives, providing advice on some of the most critical aspects of M&A transactions.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with FP&A and Strategic Finance personnel to identify, collect and validate data from client databases.
  • Analyze financial & key performance indicator deal data for trends and outliers.
  • Identify opportunities to design and develop visualizations and dashboards that enable effective and repeatable analysis of large transactional datasets.
  • Directly advise clients.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective team leadership, client relationship development, project management, and engagement management, preferably in a client service setting.

Team members collaborate with other transaction service analytics professionals, members of the deal teams, and clients to produce analyses within fast-paced transaction deadlines. This is a front-line client interaction position with significant opportunity for growth and advancement.

With an in-depth understanding of the M&A landscape, market experience, and access to our global network of advisors, Deloitte has the capabilities to help clients confidently pursue strategic transactions in both domestic and global markets, managing the entire M&A lifecycle. We work with our clients to develop growth strategies based on their organizational goals, designing our services to help them capitalize on opportunities during the merger, acquisition, or divestiture process.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or similar.
  • 2-4 years of experience analyzing large datasets, including demonstrated understanding of data manipulation tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced business analytics and data mining solutions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of multiple business cycles (examples include but not limited to Order-to-cash revenue cycle, procurement, Supply Chain, Inventory, etc.).
  • Experience designing and storytelling via data visualization (examples include but not limited to Tableau, Power BI, Excel Charts, etc.).
  • Experience analyzing or managing accounting, financial or transactional data.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
Preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of data structures and database design.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, particularly revenue recognition and ASC 606.
  • Experience performing ETL/data manipulation using Alteryx or similar tools.
  • Experience designing data visualizations with Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of how to use programming languages for data analyses: SQL, Python, R or other languages.
  • Statistical methods in support of data analysis.
  • CPA, CA certification.
  • Master of Business Administration or similar degree.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $97,700 to $179,900. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
