Job Description
Scientist, Data Analysis & Bioinformatics
Delcath Systems is seeking a Scientist, Data Analysis & Bioinformatics to join our Translational Research group. This junior position offers a unique opportunity to analyze complex biological datasets, contribute to groundbreaking research in oncology, and be mentored directly by the Vice President of Translational Research.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze internal and public high-throughput datasets (gene expression, spatial biology, proteomics, radiology) from preclinical and clinical studies.
- Provide mechanistic insights into clinical response and support research programs.
- Develop and validate analysis pipelines for gene expression, radiology, and pathology.
- Analyze biomarker data from preclinical and clinical samples to support INDs and NDAs.
- Integrate diverse biomarker data to inform mechanism of action and clinical response/resistance.
- Deliver data analysis and interpretation to support patent filings.
- Support external collaborations with data analysis capabilities.
- Validate prognostic and predictive signatures from publicly available datasets.
- Lead external communication efforts, including posters, presentations, conferences, and publications.
Education and Experience
- PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, data analysis, or related field; OR Masters with 4+ years of work experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Proven background in bioinformatics and/or data analysis with complex datasets.
- Proficiency in Linux and coding in Python and R.
- Self-driven, independent, and collaborative team player in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Desired: Experience in modeling & simulation, computational image analysis, and/or machine learning.
- Desired: Previous training or work experience in oncology or molecular biology.
- Desired: Experience with Matlab, Plateau, or Spotfire.
Location and Work Environment
This role is based in a professional office environment with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, heat, airborne particles, moderate noise, and outside weather conditions. Reasonable accommodation may be made for individuals with disabilities.
