Job Description

IT Cybersecurity Specialist at Defense Information Systems Agency

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. This role is located in the DISA-White House Communications Agency (WH2030).

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides Management and Monitoring of various networks, systems, facilities, circuits, and services.
  • Performs trend analysis on circuits, network devices, and server infrastructure.
  • Monitors a large enterprise information technology (IT) network and all associated network devices across multiple classification levels.
  • Responsible for providing technical expertise and input to ensure emerging IT programs reach adequate functional requirements, proper security levels, technical compatibility, and compliance with Government and industry standards.
  • Conducts data trend analysis and recommends and implements improvements to current business processes.
  • Monitors and makes recommendations to the Service Level Agreement (SLA) process, implementing performance criteria to ensure metrics and performance measurements are in line with achievable service levels and customer expectations.

 

Requirements and Conditions of Employment

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • This national security position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment; failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.
  • This is a drug testing position.
  • Incumbent may be required to perform duties after hours, weekends, and holidays.

 

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below, including at least one year of qualifying experience at the GG-13 level.

Basic Requirements
  • Attention to Detail: Experience reviewing your own and others' IT-related work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
  • Customer Service: Experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing their current IT needs, and developing or identifying tailored IT products and services.
  • Oral Communication: Ability to brief mid-level management and IT staff on system status, projects, or daily operations, including communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Problem Solving: Identifying alternatives to address complex IT-related issues by gathering and applying information from various sources to provide potential solutions.
Qualifying Experience (GG-13)

Experience in analyzing, evaluating, and recommending hardware/software changes to various computer systems OR performing IT trend analysis and recommending modifications to business processes impacting large-scale enterprise environments. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of the announcement.

 

Additional Information

This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service, recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system. A three-year trial period may be required. Telework availability will be based upon mission requirements and supervisory determination. Moving costs, recruitment, relocation, or retention incentives MAY be authorized. This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 and subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements. Employee is subject to recall or call back 24/7. Veterans' Preference is applied to preference eligible candidates in accordance with DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 3005.
