About the Team

The Infrastructure team builds and operates the foundations powering Decagon: networking, data, ML serving, developer platform, and real‑time voice. The team focuses on:

  • Core Infra: Cloud stack, networking, compute, storage, and security.
  • Data Infra: Streaming/batch platforms for analytics and telemetry.
  • ML Infra: GPU and model-serving for LLM inference.
  • Platform (DevEx): CI/CD and core services for fast, safe shipping.
  • Voice Infra: Telephony/WebRTC and observability for voice quality.

About the Role

In the role of Software Engineer Infrastructure at Decagon, you will design, build, and operate production infrastructure for high-scale, low‑latency systems. You own critical services end‑to‑end, improve reliability and performance, and create paved‑paths for every Decagon engineer to ship confidently.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement critical infrastructure services with strong SLOs and clear runbooks.
  • Partner with research and product teams to architect, prototype, and scale solutions.
  • Optimize service latencies through smart caching, queuing, and resource tuning.
  • Evolve CI/CD, golden paths, and self‑service tooling for improved developer velocity.
  • Support diverse deployment architectures with robust observability and upgrade paths.
  • Lead infrastructure‑as‑code using Terraform and GitOps practices.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and drive automation to reduce recurring issues.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years building and operating production infrastructure at scale.
  • Expertise in at least one area among Core, Data, AI‑ML, Platform, or Voice.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet high availability and low latency targets.
  • Strong observability skills with tools like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, and Datadog.
  • Effective communication and ability to simplify ambiguous requirements.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience as an early-stage backend or infrastructure engineer.
  • Strong Kubernetes experience across GKE, EKS, or AKS.
  • Experience with customer‑managed deployments.
