Key Responsibilities of a Diesel Technician
- Capable of performing most major repairs with limited guidance or supervision.
- Repair equipment in the most effective manner with a focus on quality and cost control.
- Perform effective diagnostic routines that identify root cause and determine the best repair method.
- Provide mentoring and training to less experienced technicians.
- Conduct all repairs in a manner that emphasizes personal and coworker safety.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.
- Ability to work in a team environment to continuously improve results.
- Able to promote a culture of trust and safety.
What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in computer based maintenance systems.
- Vendor sponsored training in major vehicle components.
- Minimum five years of experience in Class 8 maintenance and repair.
- Ability to work in a shop environment frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, heat, cold, and increased levels of noise.
- Constantly positions oneself to operate, inspect, and move up to 60 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard on a daily basis.
- Detect, recognize and assess printed text and hand written documents.
- Be able to communicate and exchange accurate information.
