Key Responsibilities of a Diesel Technician

  • Capable of performing most major repairs with limited guidance or supervision.
  • Repair equipment in the most effective manner, focusing on quality and cost control.
  • Perform effective diagnostic routines that identify root causes and determine the best repair methods.
  • Provide mentoring and training to less experienced technicians.
  • Conduct all repairs with an emphasis on personal and coworker safety.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment to continuously improve results.
  • Promote a culture of trust and safety.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in computer-based maintenance systems.
  • Vendor-sponsored training in major vehicle components.
  • Minimum five years of experience in Class 8 maintenance and repair.
  • This position requires working in a shop environment, frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, heat, cold, and increased noise levels.
  • Constantly position oneself to operate, inspect, and move up to 60 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard daily.
  • Ability to detect, recognize, and assess printed text and handwritten documents.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
