About David
David creates tools to increase muscle and decrease fat. Our first product is a protein bar and we are now entering our debut into fashion. Led by CEO Peter Rahal, former CEO of RXBAR ($600M exit to Kellogg in 2017), we are poised for a critical growth stage.
Role Overview
The Apparel Designer will drive the development of our first capsule collection through the entire design lifecycle from initial concept to final fit approval. You will collaborate closely with the CEO, Special Projects Manager, and external partners to translate our brand vision into innovative, high-quality garments.
Responsibilities
- Design Development: Translate creative concepts into production-ready garments.
- Create design sketches that evaluate color, trims, silhouettes, and styling.
- Collaborate on sourcing fabrics, materials, trims, and finishings aligned with performance and aesthetics.
- Refine the visual identity of the collection ensuring cultural relevance.
- Technical Design & Product Management: Develop comprehensive technical packages and manage pattern and sample development.
- Lead fit sessions, document feedback, and oversee corrections for quality prototypes.
- Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors ensuring quality control and production deadlines.
- Ensure material and garment testing meets quality and performance standards.
What You’ll Bring
A minimum of 3 years experience in apparel design, preferably in activewear or performance apparel. You should have proficiency in garment construction, technical package creation, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), 3D design software, and hands-on collaboration from concept to production. A self-starting attitude, attention to detail, effective communication skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset are essential. A portfolio showcasing garment design and technical expertise is required.
Practicalities
This is a part-time role with potential to transition into full-time. Base pay ranges from $50 to $80 per hour, approximately 15-20 hours per week, subject to change after initial design phases. The role is based in New York City or requires regular commuting to our NYC office and manufacturing partners.
