About the Role

The Software Engineer - Data & Analytics Governance at Datadog builds and maintains high-performance backend services for the Data Catalog. This role supports data processing pipelines, data discovery, and observability to empower data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop backend services to optimize data pipelines and catalog usage.
• Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams ensuring compliance and performance.
• Solve scale challenges including sharding storage and optimizing clients.
• Standardize schemas, improve navigation, and integrate customer-facing products.
• Automate compliance tagging and manage data access on various platforms.
• Participate in quarterly projects using agile scrum methodologies.

Who You Are

Experienced in API/backend development with proficiency in Golang, Python, and other languages, you are knowledgeable about operating highly available applications and familiar with Data Engineering concepts. You have a passion for enabling governance at scale and building platforms for diverse use cases.

Bonus Points

• Experience with access management, React UI development, Iceberg, or Trino.
• Interest in schema standardization and compliance automation.
