Senior Software Engineer - Data Science

About the Role

The Data Science team at Datadog designs and builds algorithmically driven features within the Datadog application. We focus on analyzing streaming data for applications like anomaly detection, error outliers, and faulty deployment analysis. As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and scaling the backend systems that power our expanding suite of Watchdog products. Your work will involve large-scale distributed systems, horizontally-scalable datastores, and various data-processing frameworks to develop our next-generation platform and enhance Data Science capabilities at Datadog.

What You’ll Do

• Build common services and components that encapsulate data science capabilities for other products and teams to leverage.
• Enable new capabilities for our core products by integrating and preprocessing data from dozens of sources, preparing it for incorporation into data science models.
• Ensure that our data science-driven features continue to scale effectively as Datadog acquires more customers and ingests increasing amounts of data.
• Leverage modern tools and frameworks to enhance the performance and cost-efficiency of data science services.
• Join an exceptional team of data scientists and software engineers dedicated to building a product cherished by our customers.
• Work across the entire stack, moving seamlessly between different programming languages and technologies.

Who You Are

• You have experience working in Python, Java, Scala, or Go.
• You have experience working with microservices and/or distributed systems.
• You prioritize simplicity and efficient task completion.
• You have built high-volume data pipelines.
• You possess expertise in Python, Go, or Scala and are familiar with Spark or Flink.
• You are excited about leveraging AI tools to improve your coding, problem-solving, and building processes – or eager to acquire these skills.
