About the Role
Datadog is deeply committed to open source, evident in our Agent, tracers, libraries, and SDKs, all of which are open source. This commitment extends to open standards and open collaboration, making it a core aspect of our identity and operations. As a member of the Open Source Program Office (OSPO), you will play a crucial role in developing tools, documentation, and policies to enhance how our engineers engage with both our internal and third-party open source projects. You will also represent Datadog within various open source communities.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain tools that facilitate the building and releasing of Open Source software at Datadog.
- Develop and maintain tools that simplify the ingestion of Open Source software into Datadog.
- Create developer-facing documentation and training materials on contributing to and maintaining open source projects.
- Engage with open source communities to understand market problems and emerging trends.
- Create tools to automatically analyze and report on open source repository trends and statistics.
- Liaise with Datadog Open Source Partners, candidates, and recipients to select new projects for the program and ensure its continued relevance.
- Research and write content for the Datadog Open Source Hub.
- Contribute to product development through feedback (bug reports or enhancement suggestions), documentation, or code contributions.
Who You Are
- Possess approximately 3+ years of experience as a software developer, SRE, or a similar technical role.
- Fluent in reading and writing one or more programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, C#, or Rust.
- Passionate about building tools that improve the productivity of other engineers.
- Exhibit strong empathy, collaboration, and communication skills to foster robust relationships across the organization.
- Bonus: Active participation in an open source community.
- Bonus: Familiarity with various Open Source licenses and Contributor License Agreements.
