Role Overview: Open Source Program Developer
As part of the Open Source Program Office (OSPO), you will play a crucial role in developing tools, documentation, and policies that enhance how our engineers engage with both internal and external open-source projects. You will also represent Datadog within open-source communities.
What You’ll Do:
- Build and maintain tools to streamline the building and releasing of Datadog's open-source software.
- Develop and maintain tools for efficiently ingesting open-source software into Datadog.
- Create developer-facing documentation and training materials on contributing to and maintaining open-source projects.
- Engage with open-source communities to identify market problems and trends.
- Develop tools for automated analysis and reporting of open-source repository trends and statistics.
- Liaise with Datadog Open Source Partners, candidates, and recipients to select new projects and ensure program relevance.
- Research and contribute content to the Datadog Open Source Hub.
- Provide product feedback, including bug reports and enhancement suggestions, documentation, or code contributions.
Who You Are:
- Approximately 3+ years of experience as a software developer, SRE, or similar practitioner.
- Proficiency in reading and writing one or more programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, C#, or Rust.
- A passion for building tools that boost engineer productivity.
- Strong empathy, collaboration, and communication skills to foster relationships across teams.
- Bonus: Active involvement in an open-source community.
- Bonus: Familiarity with various open-source licenses and Contributor License Agreements.
