About the Role
Datadog is deeply committed to open source, evident in our Agent, tracers, libraries, and SDKs, all of which are open source. This commitment extends to open standards and collaboration, forming a core part of our identity and operations. As a member of the Open Source Program Office (OSPO), you will be instrumental in developing the tools, documentation, and policies that enhance how our engineers engage with both our internal and third-party open source projects. You will also represent Datadog within the broader open source communities.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain tools that streamline the building and releasing of Open Source software at Datadog.
- Develop and manage tools that facilitate the ingestion of Open Source software into Datadog.
- Create developer-facing documentation and training materials focused on contributing to and maintaining open source projects.
- Engage with open source communities to understand market problems and emerging trends.
- Create tools for automated analysis and reporting on Open Source repository trends and statistics.
- Liaise with Datadog Open Source Partners, candidates, and recipients to select new projects for the program and ensure its continued relevance.
- Research and author content for the Datadog Open Source Hub.
- Contribute to product development through feedback (bugs or enhancement suggestions), documentation, or code.
Who You Are
- Possess approximately 3+ years of experience as a software developer, SRE, or similar practitioner.
- Fluent in reading and writing one or more programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, C#, Rust, etc.
- Passionate about building tools that enhance engineer productivity.
- Demonstrate empathy, collaboration, and strong communication skills to foster robust relationships across organizational teams.
- Bonus: Active participation (or past participation) in an open source community.
- Bonus: Familiarity with various Open Source licenses and Contributor License Agreements.
