The Analytics Data Platform Governance team manages our Data Catalog which tracks millions of data assets and their metadata, supporting event-driven pipelines and ensuring compliance at scale. This platform empowers engineers to build reliable pipelines and analysts to make trusted data-driven decisions.

Role Description

This role is for an Engineering Manager to lead a team building the next generation of Data Observability and Data Access Management tooling for Datadog. The team handles 1k requests per second and tracks 30M new assets monthly.

What You’ll Do

• Lead a team of 5-7 Backend Engineers
• Own the team’s roadmap and vision, breaking down tasks
• Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to meet their needs
• Stay updated on data processing advancements for integration opportunities
• Contribute actively by writing and reviewing pull requests

Who You Are

You have proven leadership experience and understanding of API/backend development. You are familiar with operating highly available applications and data engineering tools. Experience with technologies like Golang, Python, Postgres, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Spark is desirable along with a passion for governance at scale.

Nice to Haves

Experience with access management, OpenLineage, Airflow, React UI development, Iceberg, or Trino.

Compensation

This role offers a competitive salary and equity package with an estimated yearly salary around 213,000 USD.
