About the Role
The Engineering Manager - Data Semantics at Datadog builds the foundation that makes data usable, discoverable, and intelligent. The role involves defining and maintaining a shared data model connecting petabytes of telemetry data to logical datasets. This work supports dashboards, monitors, queries, and AI-assisted workflows.
Responsibilities
Lead and scale a high-performing team of 8 engineers while driving the technical roadmap for the Data Semantics platform, aligning near-term deliverables with long-term strategic goals across observability, OpenTelemetry, and AI-driven use cases. Responsibilities include:
- Driving product value with durable, self-service systems.
- Enabling cross-team initiatives and architectural decisions for distributed, real-time systems.
- Growing and empowering technical leaders.
- Contributing to engineering-wide initiatives and shaping long-term platform direction.
Who You Are
You are a strong technical leader with a proven track record in managing engineering teams, building reliable and scalable backend or platform systems in data-intensive environments. You excel in cross-team initiatives, clear communications, and have a product-oriented mindset.
