Job Description

Your Role as a Data Analyst, In-line Inspection at DarkVision

We are seeking a Data Analyst for our Pipeline Inline Inspection (ILI) Data Analysis team.

DarkVision uses state-of-the-art proprietary acoustic imaging technologies to provide asset inspection services to industrial clients. This ultrasound system gathers immense datasets and identifies defects as small as a few millimeters. Automated processing, measurement, classification, and visualization algorithms are crucial due to the time-consuming and inconsistent nature of manual processing.

In this role, you will interpret ultrasound data obtained from DarkVision's Pipeline Inline-Inspection (ILI) tool to produce accurate and reliable inspection reports, essential for the safe operation of oil and gas pipelines. You will be responsible for identifying and annotating features within ultrasound imaging data, creating visualizations, and generating client reports.

Our experts from across the machine vision, imaging, computer graphics, and data analytics sectors have worked to create the most technologically advanced platform for pipeline and downhole diagnostics. Come join our team as we embark on the exciting journey ahead to become the global leader in industrial imaging.

This position is full-time on-site in our HQ in North Vancouver, BC. While this position is Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, all applicants must be available to work in evenings or weekends if needed, and be open to shift work if needed in the future.

Our Team

Our Data Analysts utilize 3D data visualization software and human-in-the-loop machine learning processes to meticulously analyze ultrasound datasets. The outputs of these analyses result in critical insights that enable our clients to make data-informed decisions on the operations and maintenance of multi-million-dollar energy infrastructure assets.

What You Will Do

  • Inspect ultrasound data to identify and annotate features and defects
  • Create 3D visualizations and renderings from raw ultrasound data
  • Generate and edit detailed reports for client delivery
  • Help define processes and training for the ILI data analysis team

Opportunities To Learn And Work On

  • Contribute to process automation and client reporting
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in pipeline Non-Destructive Evaluation/Testing (NDE/NDT) integrity inspection

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Able to work 100% on-site in the North Vancouver office
  • Available for evening or weekend work if needed
  • Open to shift work in the future if required
  • Post secondary degree or diploma in a STEM field (or in the process of earning)
  • Experience in a professional work environment (e.g. full-time work, part-time work, co-op, internship)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Collaborative problem-solver; solutions and action oriented
  • Data visualization experience
  • MATLAB or Python experience
  • Image processing experience
  • Experience with 3D data
  • Experience rendering 3D images
  • Oil and gas industry experience
