About the role
About The Role
We're scaling a new vertical, and we're hiring our first dedicated marketing leader to own it. This is not an individual contributor role - it's an orchestration role. You'll be responsible for building and managing the full marketing engine: directing our agency partners, owning affiliate and events strategy, and over time developing the in-house capability that reduces our dependence on outside resources entirely.
You'll operate with real autonomy and report directly to senior leadership. The job is to make sure the right things are getting done by the right people - whether that's an agency, a vendor, or eventually a team you've helped build. If you're someone who gets energy from bringing order to ambiguity, holds vendors to outcomes rather than activity, and can communicate clearly to leadership when the plan needs to change, this role was built for you.
What You'll Do
- Own the marketing engine, strategy and execution, with real accountability for pipeline outcomes, not just activity.
- Direct agency and vendor partners across paid media, creative, content, and events: scoping work, running reviews, and holding partners accountable to results
- Own the affiliate and events strategy end-to-end, building both programs from the ground up with a bias toward channels that scale
- Partner with product and GTM teams to develop positioning, messaging, and go-to-market plans for new products. You'll be the marketing voice in the room when we're deciding how to launch something
- Build and maintain the marketing calendar across channels, ensuring the right things are moving at the right time and nothing falls through the cracks
- Own budget allocation and performance reporting: you'll track what's working, cut what isn't, and make a clear case to leadership for where resources should go next
- Communicate regularly with senior leadership on progress, performance, and when the plan needs to change
- Identify where in-house capability should replace outside spend over time, building the case for hires and helping onboard the people who eventually report to you
- 10-15% travel
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of marketing experience, with omnichannel experience inclusive of refining and developing creative and content to match customer interests
- A strong creative eye and the ability to direct agency-produced work with conviction - you know good creative when you see it and can articulate clearly why something isn't working
- Experience straddling both creative and commercial - you care about the brand, but you ultimately measure success in pipeline
- Proven ability to manage and direct external agencies and vendors - you know how to scope work, ask the right questions, and hold partners accountable to pipeline, not just deliverables
- You get excited about working with product and go-to market teams to launch new products and establish key value propositions and competitive advantages
- Experience managing agencies and external vendors - you know how to ask the right questions and hold them accountable
- Comfort operating in ambiguity with limited structure - you write the playbook as you go and reset expectations when the plan needs to change
- Executive communication skills: you can package progress for leadership in a way that builds trust even when the numbers are off
- Bias toward action, with the judgment to know when to move fast and when to slow down and build the right foundation
Bonus Points For
- Experience marketing to SMBs, particularly in healthcare, dental, or adjacent regulated verticals
- Familiarity with B2B2C or two-sided market dynamics
- Background in editorial, publishing, or brand — you understand how to build an audience, not just buy one
- Outstanding professional references who can speak to your ability to operate independently and drive results
- Relentlessly positive attitude, strong sense of humor, and the ability to have fun at work
