GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the AVP Human Resources Business Partners, Employee Relations and MyHR Solutions Hub, the Senior HR Business Partner serves as a "Customer Relationship Manager" for senior staff. This role provides strategic-level consultation on human capital needs to respective client groups and the organization as a whole. The Senior HR Business Partner forms partnerships across the HR function to understand and deliver value-added talent and total rewards practices, engages customers through proactive discussions, assesses and consistently evaluates client needs to provide professional-level consultation, and supports the airport in strategic initiatives through its talent.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provides consultation and support in all talent practices, including employee engagement, total rewards, talent acquisition, performance management, succession planning, and strategic workforce planning, in partnership with the HR centers of excellence.
  • Offers strategic consultation to senior staff and managers to support and align airport and talent initiatives, presenting options to leadership based on best practice methodologies.
  • Facilitates discussions with executive leaders and managers on organizational design and strategic workforce planning, collaborating with Talent center of excellence leaders and/or Human Resources AVP/VP to formulate future plans for potential leaders and successors.
  • Engages with client group executives and managers to discuss engagement survey scores, interpret the engagement framework, and formulate action plans to support company engagement goals.
  • Reviews investigation results and makes recommendations on workplace issues, partnering with the Employee Relations team, and communicating resolutions on general, discrimination, harassment, and/or hostile work environment allegations to management.
  • Partners with client groups throughout the planning and execution of company-wide and HR programs, ensuring alignment with the airport strategy.
  • Collaborates with the Talent Acquisition team to identify job-specific recruitment strategies aligned with department goals, reviewing job requirements and descriptions for accuracy prior to publication.
  • Addresses workforce demographics, culture, and employee experience at the department level in partnership with the Talent team, working with leaders to support DFW Airport culture and beliefs.
  • Partners with HR centers of excellence to plan and implement HR strategies supporting department needs.
  • Analyzes and compiles information and statistics, developing reports and presentations with recommendations for management-level meetings and decision-making sessions.
  • Conducts research on new and pending legislation and laws relating to HR programs, ensuring department HR-related and employment practices comply with federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Partners with Risk Management on employee wellbeing-related issues.
  • Provides coaching to senior staff and managers regarding leadership competencies.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with significant coursework in human resources, psychology, business or public administration, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of related professional-level experience in human resources or organizational development.
  • Degree requirement may be substituted by increasingly responsible, professional-level HR experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of current human resources rules, regulations, laws, principles, practices, and policies related to all aspects of human resources (e.g., Employee Relations, Staffing, Compensation and Benefits).
  • Ability to provide strategic-level consulting to mediate issues and influence business leaders, including senior executives on key human capital needs or problems.
  • Skill in investigating complaints in compliance with EEOC guidelines.
  • Skill in conflict resolution and negotiation to resolve complaints and business issues.
  • Ability to understand and interpret current Airport policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within and outside the organization, and establish rapport with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, differentiate competing demands, and work under time pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to apply reasoning in conducting research and analysis of HR programs.
  • Proficiency in processing, understanding, and presenting data using a computer.
  • Ability to interact pleasantly and tactfully with the public and other employees.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills with senior staff, managers, and hourly employees.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or public administration, human resources management, psychology, or a related field.
  • SPHR Certification.
  • Experience as an HR Business Partner.
  • Exposure to change management principles.
  • Conflict Management / Composure.
