About the role
Traveling Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to lead field operations on large-scale data center and/or industrial construction projects across the United States. This role is responsible for managing all on-site construction activities from mobilization through project closeout while ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record delivering complex, fast-paced, mission-critical or heavy industrial projects, strong leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate large subcontractor teams in demanding environments. This is a 100 percent traveling position supporting national projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all field operations for assigned projects including site logistics, scheduling, safety, quality, and productivity
- Oversee daily activities of subcontractors, foremen, and site personnel
- Enforce strict safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards
- Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, client representatives, engineers, and inspectors
- Manage project schedules, anticipating challenges and proactively resolving conflicts
- Ensure work complies with contract documents, drawings, specifications, and local codes
- Conduct regular site meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and safety briefings
- Monitor and maintain quality control standards including inspections and documentation
- Review and track field production, manpower, and equipment usage
- Support commissioning, turnover, and closeout processes for mission-critical systems
- Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, progress photos, and field documentation
- Serve as the companys on-site representative, maintaining strong client relationships
Required Qualifications
- 7 to 10 or more years of superintendent experience on large commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects
- Direct experience on data center, manufacturing, distribution, or industrial facilities preferred
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, concrete, steel, and complex building assemblies
- Proven ability to manage large subcontractor teams and multi-phased schedules
- Deep knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
- Ability to travel extensively and work extended schedules as required
- Proficient with construction technology such as Procore, scheduling software, and tablets
Preferred Experience
- Experience with hyperscale or colocation data centers
- Mission-critical or high-security project environments
- Ground-up construction projects valued at 50M or more
- Lean construction or advanced scheduling practices
- OSHA 30 required, OSHA 500 a plus
