Job Description
AWS Cloud Security Contractor
Cyber Security Resource is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Security Contractor to actively manage and strengthen the security posture of multiple AWS accounts supporting production SaaS environments. This role is hands-on and operational. The selected contractor will work across several AWS environments to implement, monitor, and continuously improve cloud security controls, ensuring alignment with best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, HITRUST, HIPAA). We are looking for someone who can independently assess risk, implement secure configurations, and maintain strong visibility across multi-account AWS architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor the security posture of multiple AWS accounts hosting SaaS applications
- Implement and maintain AWS security services including: GuardDuty, Security Hub, AWS Config, IAM & Identity Center, CloudTrail, Inspector, KMS
- Review and harden IAM roles, policies, and cross-account access
- Ensure secure VPC architecture, security groups, NACLs, and subnet configurations
- Monitor and remediate findings from AWS security services and vulnerability scans
- Maintain logging, monitoring, and alerting configurations across environments
- Support patching and vulnerability management processes
- Assist in incident response investigations within AWS environments
- Validate encryption at rest and in transit configurations
- Review Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code security configurations (preferred)
- Support compliance alignment with frameworks such as NIST, HITRUST, and HIPAA
- Document security configurations and changes for audit purposes
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience
- 3+ years focused specifically on AWS cloud security
- Strong knowledge of AWS multi-account architecture and best practices
- Experience managing production SaaS environments in AWS
- Deep understanding of: IAM (least privilege design, role assumption, cross-account access), VPC design and network segmentation, Logging and monitoring strategies, Vulnerability management in AWS
- Experience working with compliance-driven environments (HIPAA preferred)
- Ability to work independently and proactively identify security risks
- Strong written documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Security Specialty Certification
- Experience in healthcare or regulated environments
- Experience with HITRUST or NIST frameworks
- Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, or CI/CD security reviews
- Background in penetration testing or security assessments

Engagement Details
