Sourcing Engineer
The Sourcing Engineer will use strong analytical and negotiation skills to help identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers. This role focuses on driving cost savings, mitigating supply chain risks, and supporting product development and production teams with reliable and competitive sourcing strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for components, raw materials, and finished goods
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to optimize cost and value
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams to ensure technical standards
- Analyze supplier capabilities, lead times, and risk factors
- Conduct cost analysis and develop cost-saving initiatives
- Support new product development by sourcing components early
- Maintain detailed records of supplier interactions and performance metrics
- Stay updated on market trends, materials pricing, and global sourcing practices
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and regulations
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge and contribute to departmental tasks
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain
- Proven experience in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships
- Knowledge of cost modeling and total cost of ownership analysis
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with ERP systems (ideally Infor) and procurement tools
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally as needed
- Experience in international sourcing (highly preferred)
- Certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, APICS)
