About The Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Software Engineer for the Data Security Product Group with expertise in analyzing large volumes of data, developing classification engines, and extracting actionable insights for our customers. This Data Engineer III role combines analytical expertise with software engineering skills to enhance our data classification capabilities.
About The Product: CrowdStrike Falcon
CrowdStrike Falcon is a comprehensive security solution consisting of two key components:
- A lightweight "sensor" agent installed on client machines that observes system activity, recognizes malicious behavior, provides on-box prevention, and sends telemetry to the Falcon cloud.
- A cloud component that aggregates sensor telemetry across customer networks, correlates malicious behavior across multiple machines, and presents prioritized threat summaries to customer operations teams.
What You'll Do
- Take full responsibility for data classification engine logic, creating detection mechanisms for various types of sensitive data.
- Research and design innovative detection approaches using big data and ML algorithms.
- Develop and implement monitoring tools to ensure data classification system effectiveness, automating KPI evaluation processes.
- Perform data validation and ensure product data integrity.
- Utilize data analysis techniques to support internal decision-making, including R&D efforts, visibility expansions, and data integrations.
- Design, develop, and maintain software components for data classification systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate classification capabilities into the broader Falcon platform.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in software development or data analysis/science roles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and detail-oriented mindset.
- Strong proficiency in SQL (mandatory) and experience working with large datasets.
- Experience with cloud data warehouses and data processing frameworks.
- Proficiency in pattern matching techniques.
- Programming experience in Python, Java, or similar languages.
- Experience with Kibana or equivalent data visualization tools.
- Familiarity with data analysis in scripting environments such as Python or R.
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and applications to data classification.
- Develop and implement monitoring tools to ensure the effectiveness of our data classification system, automating KPI evaluation processes.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to collaborate effectively across all management levels.
- Utilize data analysis techniques to support internal decision-making processes, including research and development efforts, visibility expansions, and data integrations.
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English.
