We are seeking a deeply technical product leader to spearhead the modernization of 2 Hour Learning's AI-powered learning ecosystem. This position requires the technical precision of a CTO, the product vision to catalyze transformational change, and the commitment to apply both toward unlocking student potential at scale.

Unlike most companies that layer AI onto conventional education frameworks as an add-on, 2 Hour Learning has pursued a fundamentally different approach: we reconstructed the school model from its foundation, leveraging AI and learning science to eliminate the limitations inherent in traditional classrooms. This is not a conventional product management position centered on feedback loops or incremental feature rollouts. This is an executive-level technical product ownership role in which you will control the architecture, technical strategy, and AI integration across our entire learning platform. You will be accountable for the critical technical tradeoffs that keep our products lean, scalable, and uncompromisingly focused on student outcomes. You will operate with the mindset of a CTO while executing with the velocity of a product entrepreneur, fusing engineering discipline with learning science to deliver continuous breakthroughs.

What You Will Be Doing

• Building and demonstrating comprehensive education product expertise to inform strategic direction
• Creating technical specifications that resolve critical technical decisions while prioritizing simplicity, efficiency, and sustainability
• Deploying generative AI technologies to automate and optimize engineering workflows, consistent with the strategic objective of minimizing manual intervention

• Pure people management; this position relies heavily on your business and technical expertise
• Spending time in meetings, committees, or administrative overhead; we have automated management burdens so you can concentrate on delivering business value through direct work
• High-level strategies detached from implementation; your recommendations must be grounded in product-level analysis

Vice President of Product Engineering Key Responsibilities

Serve as the CTO of one or more education products, owning core competencies and delivering business value through flawless execution and strategic leadership

Basic Requirements

• Deep experience or interest in data-driven learning science
• 7+ years of experience making the important architecture and design decisions on software projects, such as the application of architecture design patterns or significant open source technologies
• 2+ years of experience making design decisions involving the use of cloud computing services (primarily AWS)
• 4+ years of experience in positions with full technical and delivery ownership on a revenue-generating product
• Experience building product features that make advanced use of Generative AI
• Experience using Generative AI to simplify work processes

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $200 USD/hour, which equates to $400,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
