Job Description
Organic Social Media Manager
You're not here to "manage social." You're here to architect it.
Most education companies publish safe, sanitized content that creates no impact. You're focused on building a channel that makes driven parents pause and recognize, "This is not like the others." You prioritize meaningful inbound interest over shallow metrics.
gt.school is an AI-powered K–8 program designed for gifted and talented students. Learners complete core academics in two hours and dedicate the remainder of the day to advanced coursework and practical skills. The results are measurable. The positioning is distinct. What's missing is a social presence that builds trust at scale and converts authority into demand.
You will control the full cycle. Uncover the narrative. Craft the approach. Create the content. Publish. Respond. Refine. There is no inherited framework and no established playbook. You will design the process and set the benchmark.
If you value independence, a rigorous creative standard, and a direct connection between your output and qualified parent engagement, this role delivers that authority.
What You Will Be Doing
- Establishing gt.school's owned social channels from the ground up with a consistent publishing rhythm linked to parent inbound interest
- Developing platform-native storytelling that showcases authentic student outcomes, parent decision drivers, and founder insights without sounding rehearsed or sales-driven
- Managing full-cycle execution: concept development, scripting, production, distribution, community engagement, and continuous optimization across key platforms
- Conducting disciplined experiments to enhance reach, engagement quality, and conversion signals using data to inform strategic adjustments
- Responding directly to comments and direct messages to build trust, demonstrate responsiveness, and cultivate community connection
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Publishing placeholder content to maintain activity or uphold a corporate visual identity
- Taking over a mature channel with predefined guidelines and established templates
- Chasing vanity metrics that have no relationship to qualified parent pipeline
- Executing isolated campaigns that lack genuine proof and sustainable storytelling
Organic Social Media Manager Key Responsibilities
Establish gt.school's social authority from the ground up so that high-caliber, motivated parents reliably discover, trust, and interact with the brand.
Basic Requirements
- Grown at least one social channel from 0 to 10,000+ followers (or comparable engagement growth) in 12 months; direct experience with at least two platforms: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X/Twitter.
- 2+ years managing the complete social content lifecycle independently, with 3+ specific examples of work and measurable outcomes.
- Experience leveraging performance data (views, watch time, CTR, engagement) to inform and adjust strategy.
- 1+ year operating in a startup, agency, or low-structure setting where objectives changed during execution.
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Experience expanding multiple social channels past initial growth while preserving a unified, distinct voice
- Background in education-related or parent-targeted brands where credibility and evidence matter more than promotion
- Skilled at interviewing or directing on-camera talent to surface authentic stories from students, parents, and founders
