About the role
Operations Coordinator
Take a vacant space. Stand up a fully functioning school. Hand it to operations, then start again in the next city. This is rapid-cycle delivery, month in and month out. If that rhythm appeals to you, read on.
2 Hour Learning operates schools where students complete their academic work in two hours, freeing up the rest of the day for life skills, entrepreneurship, and activities traditional education rarely accommodates. The model delivers: students ranking in the top 1-2% nationally, progressing at double the typical rate. But none of it works without a ready campus. That's what you'll deliver: school sites that are fully operational, on schedule and within budget, across an expanding network of micro schools, growth campuses, and flagship vertical campuses in major metropolitan areas.
The timelines are always tight. You'll move from building handoff to opening day in weeks, not months. That requires coordinating vendor sequences, tracking dependencies every day, and leveraging AI to resolve open items before they cause delays. After the campus launches, you transition the site to the operational team and shift to the next build.
You'll begin with micro-campus buildouts — the quickest, most standardized projects in the portfolio. As the network grows to include growth and flagship locations, the scope and complexity of what you manage will grow with it.
When a school opens on time and students arrive on Day 1, no one will know your name. That's the mark of success. Apply today via our assessment process: a cognitive evaluation and a practical work sample.
What You Will Be Doing
- Overseeing the complete buildout for each assigned campus: managing FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) sourcing and installation, interior finishes, IT infrastructure, signage, and playspace from building handoff to opening day
- Executing a condensed delivery timeline against a fixed opening date: ordering vendor work, tracking project dependencies, and finding acceleration opportunities wherever the schedule demands
- Managing and approving vendor deliverables: issuing work scopes, overseeing on-site execution, inspecting against specifications, and formally rejecting work that doesn't meet standards
- Leveraging AI tools to produce vendor scopes, create punch lists, monitor open items, and assemble handoff documentation — the pace of this role requires it
- Following standardized site deployment playbooks, confirming readiness at completion, capturing structured feedback, and coordinating the handoff to the ongoing operations team
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Overseeing day-to-day facility operations once a campus is open: you transfer responsibility to the permanent ops team and proceed to the next project
- Executing hands-on trade or installation tasks: your role is to direct, inspect, and accept work — not to install or build yourself
- Handling real estate sourcing, permitting, or certificate of occupancy processes: those steps are completed before the building is handed to you
- Operating at a leisurely pace on one project: micro-campus buildouts move quickly, and the next one is always queued
- Navigating ambiguous ownership or shared accountability: every buildout has a single owner from handoff to opening day
Operations Coordinator Key Responsibilities
- Deliver fully operational campuses on time and within budget, from building handoff to opening day.
Basic Requirements
- At least 2 years in operations, facilities, or project delivery
- Experience diagnosing and resolving a broken process, with measurable impact: reduced cost, shortened timeline, or improved quality
- Experience managing a multi-step project from beginning to end, including documented completion
- Proven vendor management ability: enforce quality standards and push back when contractors underperform
- Experience managing 2 or more concurrent projects or sites without losing track of details
- Frequent use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or equivalent) to increase efficiency and maintain organization
- Based in the US and authorized to work without visa sponsorship
- Available to travel 60–80% of the time (3–4 days/week)
Nice-to-have Requirements
- You've participated in a physical buildout or site launch in any sector: retail, restaurants, healthcare, offices, or comparable environments
- Experience in construction project management, tenant improvement, commercial fit-out, or facilities management
- Any direct exposure to FF&E, IT deployment, signage, or commercial interior work, even in a support or coordinator capacity
- You've worked with a project tracking platform (Wrike, Notion, Procore, Asana, Monday.com, or similar) to organize tasks or schedules
