Job Description
Learning Experience Designer, Alpha Anywhere
This is not a teaching position. This is a design role focused on creating experiences that make adults stop and ask, "A child built that?" If you've been constrained by rigid curricula, bureaucratic approval chains, or watered-down expectations, this role offers a fresh start. You will craft ambitious, authentic Life Skills experiences where challenge is intentional and measurable progress is the outcome.
Alpha Anywhere is a remote program serving students ages 8–14, developing life skills through live workshops and authentic challenges—not passive lectures or worksheets. This role is designed to evolve a founder-led pilot into a scalable, faculty-run program. You will design, lead, and refine the entire cycle. You will launch workshops, build independent challenges, collect and act on feedback, and create showcases where students confidently present their accomplishments.
This is not a structured, supervised position. You will be empowered to solve problems, elevate standards, and capture what works so the system can grow. If you excel with autonomy, command attention on camera, and trust kids to rise to difficult tasks, this will be the most meaningful work you've done.
If you want impact measured by genuine transformation rather than compliance, let's talk.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead live, student-centered workshops where participants drive the conversation and activity while you respond dynamically
- Create standalone challenges with explicit mastery standards and concrete deliverables that students can execute independently without intensive one-on-one guidance
- Provide rapid, actionable feedback that clarifies next steps and produces visible progress across many students
- Refine workshops based on data (results, observations, recordings, participant input) and capture improvements so the program evolves systematically
- Organize showcases in which students share their work with families, revealing clear growth and increased self-assurance
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Execute a pre-packaged curriculum or deliver lessons written by others
- Devote time to grading, standardized test preparation, or administrative "checkbox" tasks
- Navigate approval hierarchies before testing ideas, running experiments, or deploying changes
- Depend on physical presence to generate engagement; you will build rapport and energy through a screen
Learning Experience Designer Key Responsibilities
This role is critical to scaling a faculty-led Life Skills program at Alpha Anywhere—one that reliably delivers exceptional student outcomes and supports significant enrollment expansion beyond founder-led sessions.
Basic Requirements
- Experience having designed and executed at least one complete experience from start to finish (program, game, camp, training, performance, or comparable)
- Experience working directly with students ages 8–14 in any context
- Strong on-camera presence with clear articulation and the capacity to foster connection remotely
- Availability to work 40 hours/week with at least 70% of your schedule open between 8am–8pm CT, Monday–Friday
- Dependable internet connection and a professional, consistent environment for virtual delivery
- Proven capacity to operate in uncertainty, iterate quickly, and maintain rigorous standards even when students face difficulty
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Background in experiential design (games, theater, youth programs, coaching, or startup environments)
- Experience creating objective rubrics, exemplars, or mastery-based evaluation tools
- Track record of documenting and standardizing processes so others can replicate and refine your work
