About the Role

The Machine Learning Intern at Crossing Hurdles will work with top-tier AI research labs to build and train cutting-edge AI models. This contractor position is hourly and remote with approximately 35 hours per week.

Role Responsibilities

• Build and maintain GitHub-based project infrastructure including CI/CD workflows.
• Set up and manage containerized environments with Docker and related tools.
• Develop and integrate CLI and API coding tool environments.
• Support reinforcement learning and large language model research experiments.
• Handle data collection, preprocessing, and analysis for ML projects.
• Collaborate asynchronously with research teams on evolving project requirements.
• Document workflows, experimental results, and infrastructure reproducibly.

Ideal Qualifications

• Background in machine learning, reinforcement learning, or relevant coursework.
• Experience with LLM or RL-related projects, including GitHub contributions.
• Proficiency with Docker, CLI tooling, and GitHub project management.
• Experience in building integrations and managing data pipelines.
• Ability to balance engineering-heavy tasks with research activities.
• Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous startup-like environments.
• Prior research lab or team project experience is a plus.
