Exceptional Junior Software Engineer

Overview

Crossing Hurdles is a recruitment firm referring top candidates to our partners working with world-leading AI research labs. This position is for an Exceptional Junior Software Engineer on an hourly contract.

Role Responsibilities

The role involves designing and implementing complex database schemas, building and integrating sophisticated APIs, developing secure authentication mechanisms, and populating environments with synthetic data for Reinforcement Learning models.

• Design and implement complex database schemas for AI workflows.
• Build, test, and integrate secure, scalable APIs.
• Develop and deploy authentication mechanisms and backend frameworks.
• Populate environments with synthetic data for RL models.
• Ensure applications are performant, secure, and modular.
• Work asynchronously and independently with flexible scheduling.

Requirements

• Strong professional software engineering experience in high-performance environments.
• Proven success in designing or leading database schema development.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and database structuring.
• Expertise in API development, testing, and integration.
• Exceptional problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Access to a desktop or laptop computer (Chromebooks not supported).

Contract Details

• Type: Hourly Contract
• Compensation: $50–$150/hour based on experience and location
• Location: Remote
• Duration: Initial 1–2 months with potential extension
• Commitment: 10–20 hours/week (option to scale up to 40 hours/week)
