About the Role
The Associate Director of User Experience is responsible for the quality, clarity, and direction of UX across high-visibility initiatives at Critical Mass. This role partners with creative, strategy, and technology leadership to set standards, shape decisions, and guide trade-offs across complex problem spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team of UX and Product Designers with hands-on guidance.
- Translate complex problems into clear UX statements and design artifacts.
- Champion the user perspective and challenge senior stakeholders when needed.
- Collaborate with design, strategy, content, and tech teams to create cohesive experiences.
- Integrate AI tools into UX workflows focusing on clarity and trust.
- Support recruiting, team development, and define what excellence in UX looks like.
What You Have
- Deep expertise in systems thinking, information architecture, interaction design, and usability.
- Proven capability to simplify complex UX systems.
- Strong design judgment with hands-on fluency in prototyping tools.
- Leadership experience in guiding designers through direct involvement.
- Refined aesthetic sensibility for premium digital experiences.
- Experience integrating AI in design processes.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0 A/AA).
