Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced M&A Manager to join our Strategy & Development team and play a pivotal role in driving CRH's strategic growth agenda in our Western-European division. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on high-impact transactions across our geography, partnering with business leaders to identify, evaluate, and execute acquisitions and divestments that create long-term shareholder value.
As Strategy & Development Manager, you will be at the forefront of CRH's capital allocation strategy, working on deals ranging from bolt-on acquisitions to transformational transactions across our building materials, infrastructure, and construction solutions businesses.
Key Tasks And Responsibilities
- Leading roles in end-to-end M&A processes, including target identification, valuation, due diligence, negotiation, and deal structuring.
- Support local resources on deals’ execution.
- Support divisional S&D leadership in identifying and originating strategic acquisition opportunities aligned with CRH's growth priorities.
- Develop comprehensive financial models.
- Prepare Board-level presentations and investment committee materials to support transaction decision-making.
- Support portfolio optimisation initiatives, including divestment and restructuring activities.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including legal, tax, finance, operations, and integration specialists.
- Manage relationships with external advisors, investment banks, and legal counsel.
Key Characteristics
For this Strategy & Development Manager role, you should have:
- 5-7 years’ experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, or private equity.
- A Master's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field. An MBA or professional qualification (ACA, CFA, or equivalent) will be considered a plus.
- A proven track record of successfully executing transactions from origination through closing in Europe.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate complex organisational structures.
- Recognised as a strong individual with excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to develop enduring relationships and work effectively in a team with multiple stakeholders (MDs, Senior Leaders, S&D Group, local S&D teams).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel within Europe as required.

- You possess strong analytical, business, and financial acumen with an appreciation of the implications of decisions and their impact.
- You are agile and flexible, resilient with the ability to manage multiple competing demands.
- You are very proficient in Excel - building and working with complex formulas.
- You are proficient in PowerPoint - building clear and pragmatic slides, dashboards, and visuals for management.
- Any knowledge of regulatory and competition law considerations in M&A is considered a plus.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal. Other languages may be appreciated.
