Position Overview
Joining CRH Europe Technology will embark you on a great journey with career development in a global organization. As Cloud Senior Architect, you will be part of the Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE), gaining broad business knowledge of the company’s activities globally, as well as understanding the complexity of Information Technology supporting the global building-materials business.
You will be exposed to a wide and challenging range of business issues through regular engagement with key stakeholders across all management levels within CRH. As the Cloud Senior Architect, you will be at the forefront of defining and implementing our world-class Cloud practices and the supporting toolchain to achieve our goal of building first-class cloud-based services. The focus will be on time to market and accelerating the business in delivering digital innovation.
Key Tasks And Responsibilities
- Cloud architecture solutioning
- Cloud DevOps, maintaining CI / CD, infrastructure as code pipeline
- Participate in CRH IT platform modernization across a broad and diverse set of operating companies and technologies
- Establish and evolve a set of modern architecture principles (Guardrails)
- Evolve our cloud native tools to accommodate the need of our strategic technology programs
- Ensure “Secure By Design” practices are widely adopted
- Be a cloud evangelist to help others realize the value of modern cloud capabilities
- Support new ways of work like Agile Development, DevOps practices and hackathons
- Cross-vertical support and alignment on solution architecture
- Document designs as part of sprints, easing up transition into Operations

Key Functional Competencies
Technical Skills
- Azure Cloud Architecture: IaaS and PaaS Architecture (Azure Solution Expert Certified)
- Scripting: Bash, Python, PowerShell, Go: Proficiency in scripting languages for automating routine tasks and integrations
- Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI, Travis CI: Deep knowledge of automating build, testing, and deployment pipelines. Version Control: Strong experience with Git and version control strategies (branching, merging, etc.). Collaboration & Issue Tracking: JIRA, Confluence for coordinating between teams.
- Monitoring, Logging, and Performance Tuning: Grafana, Datadog: Skills in monitoring systems' performance and logs to ensure uptime and identify performance bottlenecks.
- Networking & Security: Networking Concepts: Knowledge in TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, load balancing, and firewalls. Security Best Practices: Implementing security in DevOps (e.g., IAM policies, network security, vulnerability scanning, encryption). Zero Trust, OAuth, OpenID, TLS/SSL: Experience with modern security protocols and practices.
- Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile, Scrum, and Kanban for iterative and efficient software delivery. Expertise in managing teams and processes aligned with DevOps principles.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM): Experience with IaC tools to automate infrastructure provisioning. Ansible, Puppet, Chef: Configuration management tools for maintaining and deploying infrastructure.
- Containers and Orchestration: Docker: Knowledge in containerization of applications and services. Kubernetes, OpenShift: Skills in container orchestration, deployment, and management of large-scale, containerized applications.
Soft Skills
- Language: English (Fluent), Desirable: Second European Language (preferred)
- Know-how on Excellent Written and Verbal communication skills with people at all levels across the organisation
- The ability to translate business requirements into viable technical solutions
- Good stakeholder management skills (all directions). Able to describe and push new concepts
Experience / Education
- +10 years of experience
- Experienced Cloud Solution Architect / DevOps Architect, coming either from Large Enterprise.
- Certified in Azure!
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT related discipline
- Working in cross-functional teams on a European or Global level
