Job Summary
The Distribution & Copyright Specialist will work within the Distribution Department to focus on copyright enforcement and DMCA takedowns while supporting core music distribution operations. The role involves close collaboration with Legal, Rights Management, Client Relations, and Distribution teams to handle intellectual property matters accurately and ensure smooth delivery of music across digital platforms.
Responsibilities
Copyright Enforcement & Claims:
- Review incoming copyright claims from DSPs, distributors, and labels.
- Submit outgoing copyright claims and DMCA takedown notices across platforms such as YouTube, Meta, SoundCloud, and TikTok.
- Track and follow up on takedowns, counter-notices, disputes, and responses.
- Research unauthorized uses of client content using manual and automated methods.
- Maintain records and produce summary reports on enforcement efforts.
- Coordinate with Legal and Client Relations on high-priority cases.
Distribution Support:
- Support the ingestion and scheduling of music releases across DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.).
- Assist with metadata entry, quality control, and asset management.
- Coordinate and track delivery timelines to ensure timely releases.
- Help with catalog onboarding including metadata uploads and asset organization.
- Provide general administrative support to the Distribution team.
Qualifications
1–2 years of experience in copyright enforcement, DMCA processing, legal compliance, or digital music rights (internships acceptable). Must have working knowledge of U.S. Copyright Law and the DMCA process, experience with CMS/reporting tools for platforms like YouTube, Meta, SoundCloud, and TikTok, strong attention to detail, and excellent written communication skills. Familiarity with digital music distribution processes is a plus.
Compensation and Fair Chance Policy
Pay Scale: $25 - $28 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and fit. In accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance, Create Music Group considers applicants with criminal histories, evaluating qualifications and offense relevance.
