Job Description

As a Utilities Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in designing process utility systems and supporting facility infrastructure for complex manufacturing environments. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, coordinated solutions for clients in regulated industries. This opportunity is ideal for someone with strong technical skills and a passion for resolving engineering challenges in dynamic project settings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and develop process utility systems including clean and plant utilities, HVAC, and piping systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations from first principles when standard templates are unavailable.
  • Create construction drawing packages and specifications for moderately complex projects.
  • Support construction activities including RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reports.
  • Participate in squad checks ensuring coordinated, high-quality deliverables.
  • Mentor junior designers and translate designs into Revit models.
  • Contribute to advanced deliverables such as Basis of Design Reports, Hazardous Material Summaries, water/waste balances, heat transfer calculations, simulation analysis, process descriptions, equipment and hygienic piping specifications, and room cards.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Bioprocess Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and at least 3 years of relevant experience are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with familiarity with industry codes and regulatory guidance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registration or completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Expertise in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and material/energy balance calculations
  • Field survey experience and ability to resolve site issues
  • Capability to coordinate across disciplines and with external partners
  • Familiarity with construction trade coordination and vendor engagement
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design platforms
  • Programming experience is a plus
