Overview
Join CPKC, North America’s first transnational railroad connecting the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, where your career drives progress and safety is paramount. As a Track Laborer, you play a critical role in maintaining, repairing, and constructing railway tracks to ensure safe and efficient train operations.
Purpose of the Position
This role is part of the Engineering team and does not require previous railroad experience. You will follow guidelines set by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and CPKC, working locally in your assigned territory.
Position Accountabilities
- Replace and repair various track defects
- Install railway ties and spikes
- Utilize hand tools like shovels, axes, and hammers
- Clear brush and debris; maintain drainage and safety
- Respond to emergencies and track outages
- Operate company vehicles when needed
- Stand, lift, squat for long periods, and lift 50lbs or more
- Adjust to variable work shifts including night and day
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Valid driver’s license
- At least 18 years old
- Outdoor work experience in all weather conditions
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to pass physical and written safety tests

Pre-Employment Requirements
Medical and Drug Testing including physical, vision, hearing, and drug tests; Background Investigation including criminal history check, education verification, driver’s license verification, Social Security Number verification, Department of Transportation check, and 40.25 Form.
