About the Diesel Mechanic Role at Diesel Mechanic

Position Purpose
Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on locomotives. Troubleshoot diesel engine malfunctions and perform repairs in compliance with blueprints, schematic drawings, and service manuals.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, inspect, service, test and repair locomotive systems.
- Diagnose diesel engine issues within regulatory guidelines.
- Perform non-structural welding and mechanical adjustments.
- Evaluate parts for reuse, repair or replacement.
- Conduct low voltage repairs on locomotive electrical systems.
- Service locomotive cabs and operate equipment like cranes and forklifts.
Position Requirements
High school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, and possession of a relevant certification or Unifor Local 101R card required. Ability to work variable shifts and commitment to safety is essential.
