About The Role: Insurance Product Analyst
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Insurance Product Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for supporting the development, maintenance, and enhancement of our insurance product and underwriting partner portfolio.
The position involves assisting with product development and carrier relationships while conducting deep dives into market data, competitor offerings, regulatory requirements, and internal performance metrics. The goal is to ensure our products remain competitive, profitable, and compliant. The Analyst will play a vital role throughout the product lifecycle, from initial concept and design through launch and ongoing optimization. You will receive guidance from a manager and senior teammates, utilizing clear checklists, templates, and on-the-job training.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Analysis & Development: Own market and competitor benchmarking to identify and present new product opportunities aligned with strategic growth objectives. Develop and prepare comprehensive business cases, product proposals, and regulatory filings to support the launch and revision of profitable products. Input insurance policy documentation into internal tools and maintain product documentation.
- Data Management & Reporting: Extract, clean, and analyze large datasets related to policy data, claims experience, and customer demographics to deliver actionable insights that drive product performance. Build and maintain detailed reports and dashboards to track key product KPIs (e.g., loss ratios, customer uptake, profitability). Submit Underwriters Bordeaux and support data reconciliations, ensuring data integrity for financial reporting.
- Business Support & Compliance: Collaborate with Compliance and Legal teams to review and file product-related documents. Support the preparation of Quarterly Business Reviews with underwriting partners. Review and respond to requests from underwriters regarding finance reconciliation, billing topics, etc. Coordinate and organize audit documents. Provide practical support and assistance across various projects involving the insurance team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 1+ years of experience (internships or co-op programs count) in the financial services or insurance industry; recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Technical Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, visualizations) and SQL or statistical software (R, Python, SAS).
- Analytical Thinking: Eagerness to interpret basic data sets and identify trends; demonstrating strong problem-solving potential.
- Industry Knowledge: Basic familiarity with insurance concepts, product lines (e.g., P&C, Life, Health), and the product development process is beneficial.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate findings.
