- Partner closely with data analysts and other stakeholders to understand data needs and improve usability and clarity.
- Help evolve our data warehouse toward more incremental, efficient, and scalable loading patterns.
- Investigate and resolve data issues in production, prioritizing correctness over shipping new features.
- Make thoughtful tradeoffs in ambiguous situations and move work forward with a bias toward action.
- Improve data quality through validation, testing, and monitoring.
- Share knowledge, review code, and help raise the bar for data engineering best practices across the team.
Your Expertise
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or closely related roles.
- Strong experience building and maintaining production data pipelines using Python.
- Hands-on experience integrating data from external APIs.
- Experience operating batch ELT pipelines and working with data warehouses.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience modeling data for analytics and reporting use cases.
- Experience working with orchestration tools such as Airflow.
- Familiarity with dbt or similar transformation tools, and comfort working closely with analytics teams.
- Demonstrated ownership of production systems, including monitoring, debugging, and incident response.
- Comfort working in ambiguous environments and making pragmatic technical decisions.
- Experience working in a cloud environment such as GCP (or equivalent).
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and source control (e.g., GitHub).
- Experience working in collaborative, iterative development environments.
Additional preferred experience:
- Designing or migrating pipelines toward incremental loading patterns.
- Working with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform).
- Experience with data quality tooling, testing, or observability.
- Exposure to BI tools or supporting analytics workflows.
- Experience learning and adopting new tools or technologies quickly.
