About the Role

As the Senior Counsel, Real Estate, Construction & Development, you will be a seasoned real estate attorney specializing in commercial real estate transactions, particularly for data center development and construction. Reporting to the Lead Counsel, Commercial Leasing and Real Estate Development, you will work closely with various internal teams and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Real Estate Development, Construction & Design: Draft, negotiate, and manage construction and development agreements including AIA forms and custom contracts.
  • Lead due diligence for title, surveys, zoning, permitting, and entitlements.
  • Advise on insurance, warranty terms and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee design and construction disputes and coordinate with municipalities and consultants.
  • Real Estate Transactions: Draft, review, and negotiate purchase agreements, ground leases, and related documents.
  • Evaluate acquisition risks and structure deals, maintaining a library of form agreements.
  • Due Diligence & Portfolio Management: Oversee legal due diligence for real estate acquisitions and coordinate with stakeholders.

Experience & Qualifications

  • J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (NY, NJ, CA, WA, or DC preferred).
  • 7+ years of legal experience in real estate development and construction law.
  • Experience in commercial real estate transactions, particularly for data centers.
  • Skilled in drafting, negotiating, and managing complex legal agreements.
  • Experience with AIA and other industry-standard contracts and familiarity with municipal planning codes.
