Data Engineer Intern at CopperPoint Insurance Companies
CopperPoint Insurance Companies is seeking a Data Engineering Intern to join our team for a 12-week paid program. This internship offers hands-on corporate experience, valuable exposure to daily operations, and preparation for a future career with CopperPoint. The role is based in Seattle, WA or Phoenix, AZ, with a full-time remote work arrangement.
About the Role
This Data Engineering internship provides practical experience in designing, developing, and optimizing scalable data pipelines and analytics platforms. You will work with enterprise data warehouses and modern cloud data platforms, learning enterprise data engineering best practices.
Responsibilities
- Assist in building and maintaining data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
- Work with structured and semi-structured data.
- Support ETL / ELT workflows using SQL and Python.
- Participate in data quality checks and validation.
- Document data pipelines and schemas.
- Support performance tuning and optimization.
- Collaborate within an Agile Execution framework.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Current undergraduate pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proficient in SQL for data analysis and transformation.
- Familiar with Python, including scripting and libraries like Pandas.
- Knowledgeable about ETL concepts and data pipeline workflows.
- Experienced with version control tools, especially Git.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience or eagerness to learn modern data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake).
- Knowledge of distributed data processing with Spark or PySpark.
- Exposure to workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).
- Comfortable working with and consuming REST APIs.
Program Details
- Program Dates: May 26, 2026 - August 14, 2026
- Salary: $20 - $21.33 per hour
- Travel Commitment: Company-sponsored visit to Phoenix, AZ office in June and August for team building, training, and engagement.
- Work Location: Full Time Remote - Phoenix, AZ & Seattle, WA
- Time Commitment: 30 hours per week
- Benefits: Accrued Paid Time Off (PTO), eligibility for 401(k) matching plan.
