Overview
Cooley LLP is seeking a Competitive Intelligence Analyst to join the Data Delivery team. In this role, you will support the global Competitive Intelligence (CI) team under the management of the Senior Competitive Intelligence Manager. You will formulate, develop, and communicate actionable intelligence to support strategic decision making in business development, profitability, growth, and client retention.
Position Responsibilities
- Conduct tailored research and analysis of companies, industries, markets, and competitors.
- Retrieve and utilize data from diverse sources with advanced reporting and visualization tools.
- Create and report financing deal data for varied industries/geographies.
- Monitor news and litigation filings and provide actionable intelligence.
- Develop market data visualizations and advanced current awareness services.
- Participate in CI function promotion and Innovation projects.
- Prepare presentation materials and represent Innovation at firm-wide events.
- Evaluate and select CI systems and tools along with best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience
Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, iManage, DTE, Adobe Acrobat, and other firm applications.
- Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours.
- 4+ years of direct applicable experience, with possible senior designation for 5+ years.
- Experience with market analysis/competitive intelligence tools (PitchBook, Capital IQ, Bloomberg Law, etc.).
- Intermediate Excel skills including PivotTables, vlookup, and chart creation.
- Understanding of legal professional ethics in intelligence gathering.
- Experience within the legal services sector.
Preferred:
- Bachelor or Master in Library/Information Science or JD.

Compensation & Benefits
Cooley LLP offers a competitive compensation package with an expected annual pay range of $85,000 to $120,000. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts, life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and more. New employees will receive detailed benefit orientation.
