Overview

The Researcher, Online Threat Intelligence at Control Risks will conduct open-source intelligence research in support of a complex threat intelligence program.

Role Tasks and Responsibilities

Research and Information Gathering:

  • Conduct research across multiple venues to identify threats and threatening discourse.
  • Identify trends in negative chatter surrounding clients.
  • Gather intelligence on individuals and groups using open source, social media, and deep/dark web research.
  • Conduct research on specific topics for bespoke threat assessments when tasked.
  • Research new sources and develop capabilities to collect and analyse information.

Consulting Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clear and concise written analysis for high-quality threat assessments.
  • Communicate effectively to support peer review of intelligence outputs.

Competencies and Requirements

Practical knowledge of open-source intelligence collection and threat analysis is required. The candidate must be capable of preparing concise written reports with strong attention to detail. Experience in directing, collecting and analyzing information to produce timely, actionable intelligence is essential. Familiarity with the deep and dark web threat landscape is preferable. Additional languages, particularly Spanish and Portuguese, are a plus.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent demonstrable experience is required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $72,000 - $80,000 per year. Additional benefits include Medical, Prescription, FSA, Dental, Vision, Life and AD&D, Voluntary Benefits, 401(K), Nationwide Pet Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Program.
