Database Specialist SQL Server
In Consultec we are looking for a Database Specialist with advanced proficiency in SQL Server and T-SQL, to participate in technological migration processes, version upgrades, and optimization of critical data platforms. The main objective of this position is to identify technical risks, compatibility issues, performance degradation, and functional dependencies that may generate instability in operational or application processes during SQL Server migration and upgrades.
Work in coordination with development, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure a controlled, stable transition aligned with database best practices.
Role Summary
The Database Specialist is responsible for analyzing, optimizing, and ensuring the compatibility of database objects and structures for technology upgrade or migration processes, ensuring stability, performance, and operational continuity. Their role includes technical evaluation of SQL objects, identification of deprecated functionalities, execution of impact analyses, and support during controlled deployments and production validations.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views to identify incompatibilities with new SQL Server versions.
- Analyze dependencies between database objects and consuming applications.
- Identify the use of obsolete or deprecated SQL Server engine functionalities.
- Execute technical impact assessments for version changes or structural adjustments.
- Design and optimize high-performance stored procedures.
- Optimize T-SQL queries and data structures to improve response times.
- Model and adjust data structures to ensure efficiency and scalability.
- Support the implementation of database object versioning.
- Document changes made to SQL code and data structures.
- Coordinate controlled deployments of database objects across different environments.
- Support migration testing and validations in production environments.
- Execute analysis of database-related incidents and apply corrective adjustments.
- Implement preventive improvements to ensure future stability.
- Monitor performance and detect potential degradations post-migration.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and development teams during technological upgrade processes.
