Job Description

Senior Digital Forensics Consultant

Consilio LLC is seeking a Senior Consultant for our Digital Forensics & Expert Services team. This role focuses on leading and conducting digital investigations and data preservation in complex litigation cases. You will leverage your expertise in digital forensic tools, technology, and ESI management to work with a variety of data sources. The Senior Consultant will perform investigative work and data collections for Consilio’s external clients, collaborating closely with the team in a hybrid capacity from our Chicago office.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to plan and execute legally defensible data preservation strategies.
  • Lead and participate in client calls with a consultative and confident approach.
  • Work independently on-site for small to medium-sized engagements.
  • Perform investigative analysis on diverse digital devices, computers, storage media, networks, and cloud services, including mobile devices.
  • Conduct forensic examination of ESI under minimal supervision.
  • Restore and convert data to prepare it for processing and hosting.
  • Utilize forensic tools such as Encase, FTK, Axiom, and Cellebrite for investigations.
  • Apply knowledge of operating systems and applications, with a methodical problem-solving approach.
  • Adhere to Digital Forensic best practices (ISO17025 and ACPO Principles of Digital Evidence).
  • Conduct forensic examinations and prepare expert reports and witness documentation.
  • Communicate complex technical information effectively to non-technical clients.
  • Travel to domestic and international locations for data collections when feasible and safe.
  • Operate comfortably in a client-facing environment, meeting client needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in forensic computing or equivalent relevant experience.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in related roles.

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence management.
  • Proficiency in forensic acquisition tools and various file formats.
  • Ability to collect data from diverse ESI sources (computers, mobile devices, cloud, social media, etc.).
  • Familiarity with rules of evidence, ACPO guidelines, ISO17025, and Chain of Custody.
  • Good understanding of corporate computer networking.
  • Availability for short notice or weekend travel.
  • Must comply with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) qualifications.

Preferred Attributes:

  • eDiscovery experience with relevant forensic software.
  • Certifications in EnCase, FTK, Cellebrite, Nuix, CFE, or similar.
  • SQL or scripting knowledge.
